Works planned on the Highways Agency road network: M5 J12 Gloucester – overnight work Work to ease congestion on a busy junction on the M5 near Gloucester started on 6th September. The 14 week scheme is being carried out by the Highways Agency to reduce congestion at junction 12 of the M5. All works will take place overnight between 8pm and 6am. The project will increase capacity by adding lanes to the busiest parts of the junction - including new dedicated lanes, north and southbound, between the M5 and Gloucester. This will improve the flows of motorway traffic. Other work taking place includes the installation of traffic signals which will help to balance the flow between traffic exiting the motorway and other traffic using the roundabout. Work will continue each night until late December. A40 Churcham Flood Relief Work commenced from Monday 25 October to prepare the site for a flood relief project at Churcham. The first stage of the project, which involved re-profiling of the eastbound lay-by for use as a running lane, will be concluded with overnight resurfacing taking place on 29 & 30 November. From Thursday 2 December there will be closures of the main carriageways, during which time traffic will be routed via the lay-by with a 30mph speed restriction. This is expected to take approximately 2 weeks. M5 J19 Portishead – overnight work The Highways Agency started overnight work on 6 September to resurface the roundabout and renew the traffic signals at M5 J19. The work will also include renewing barriers and white lining and replacing high friction surfaces on the approaches to signals. The work is programmed to be carried out overnight between 8pm and 5am each night and is due to be completed by 23 December. While the work is being carried out there will be lane closures and 50 mph speed restrictions on the slip roads and 20 mph on the roundabout. There will be some overnight slip road closures and diversions. A35 Weymouth Road Roundabout and A35 Stinsford Roadworks are due to start on 13 September 2010 at the Stadium Roundabout and on 20 September 2010 at Stinsford (Kingston Maurward) Roundabout. The work is due to be completed at the end of March. We plan to maintain two lanes onto the roundabouts at each entry at all times during the day (6am to 8pm) to minimise disruption to traffic. However temporary traffic signals will be required overnight at some times during the works. We will be providing more information as it becomes necessary and as there are significant changes.
