Conference demonstrates how engaging employees is key to sustaining and developing high performance organisations

CIPD Employee Engagement Conference, London – 27 January 2011, Manchester – 9 February 2011

High quality service delivery can only be achieved when employees are motivated and engaged; a tough challenge during times of widespread change. This year’s Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Employee Engagement Conference will provide the ideas, techniques and solutions needed to create a committed and resilient workforce.

At the conference the CIPD will also launch the findings of the final report from its major research programme – Shaping the Future – which examines a range of case study organisations on a change journey, offering insights on how to achieve sustainable organisation performance.

The conference will explore the theme of sustaining high performance through employee engagement by offering tips on how to:

  • Cultivate the skills and behaviours needed to engage employees;
  • Connect customers with the business through committed front line employees;
  • Engage in work and inspire others to do the same;
  • Develop a dedicated workforce that is ready to step up to the challenges of change.

Highlights at the conference will include a case study example of how an SME in the engineering sector – Cougar Automation – has understood what their employees need from their jobs, and how to overcome the barriers to meeting those needs. An afternoon session will help to inform delegates about a key driver of engagement – inspiration. The workshop will demonstrate techniques to enable individuals to understand their natural sources of motivation and energy, so as to empower them to engage in their work.

Dr Jill Miller, CIPD Adviser, says: “Constant change and resourcing issues make achieving a committed and engaged workforce often a daunting and challenging prospect. Our research has shown that it is important to engage employees in line with the values of the organisation in order to achieve the best results.

“The conference will demonstrate how organisations can create an infrastructure that encourages the commitment and performance needed to thrive, by giving expert examples and useable techniques. HR professionals will leave well-equipped to face any future challenges.”
