RHCV help raise money for children’s charity
RH Commercial Vehicles (RHCV) has been giving a helping hand to Loughborough University students, helping to raise money for a local children’s charity along the way.
The independently-owned Renault Trucks dealer, with sites in Leicester and Nottingham, along with freight operator RH Freight, provided vehicles for the annual Mayor’s Parade, which were festooned with decorations before being paraded around Loughborough town centre.
The Mayor’s Parade is part of the Loughborough Students Rag and pits floats from every halls of residence against each other in the hope of winning the coveted best float prize, as judged by the town’s Mayor Jill Vincent.
Once again the turnout was high and the RHCV and RH Freight trucks were transformed into Noah’s Ark and The Swinging 60’s by the students. They joined other equally impressive floats on the parade route, helping the event to raise more than £1,000 for the charity Steps, which supports children with motor disorders and their families, enabling them to lead fuller and more active lives.
“As a local business we are pleased to support causes such as the Mayor’s Parade, that play such a significant part in the local community. I’m glad our vehicles were able to help the Loughborough students raise so much money,” commented Nigel Baxter, Managing Director of RHCV.
The float was a real hit at the parade, which is the oldest event on the Loughborough Student Rag calendar dating back to the 1920’s.
“It’s thanks to companies such as RHCV that this event can go ahead every year and continue to be such a success,” added event organiser Jane Turner.
