Weekend M62 closures cancelled in West Yorkshire 15/12/2010
The planned overnight closures of the M62 this weekend have been postponed by the Highways Agency due to the forecast of heavy snow in West Yorkshire.
The closures between Junctions 25 and 26 were due to take place to lift the main bridge steelwork and beams into place for the new Whitechapel Road Bridge.
Highways Agency project manager Tim Calvert said: “Replacing a bridge across a motorway is a very complex task and with the forecast heavy snow this weekend it may not be possible to lift the steel work and bridge beams into place safely. The scheme has been progressing well and we hope to make up the lost time caused by delaying this weekend’s work in the New Year.”
New dates to proceed with this work will be planned for early 2011.
