Highways Agency to install new safety barrier on A500 in Stoke-on-Trent
The Highways Agency is to install new safety barriers to improve safety for road users along a section of the A500 in Stoke-on-Trent.
Work starts on Monday, 7 February and is due to end on Monday, 14 March.
The new barriers will be installed along a 600-metre section of the A500 near the B5045 Shelton New Road bridge, between the A53 Etruria Road Island and the A52 Stoke Road junction.
To minimise disruption, work will take place overnight, when traffic flows are lightest. Lane two of both the north and southbound carriageways will be closed each night between 10pm and 6am, Monday to Friday only. There will be no restrictions in place during the day.
Liz Davis, route sponsor for the Highway Agency said:
“Installation of this barrier will improve safety for the travelling public and reduce the risk of vehicles leaving the carriageway.
“The work has been planned to cause the least disruption to road users and will be carried out overnight when it is less busy. There will be minimal delay to traffic.”
