Mitsubishi answer eco and compact questions with e-compact

Mitsubushi have seized the chance to show off their Concept-Global Small vehicle, the e-compact, at the 81st Geneva Motor Show.

Proposed as an entry model for emerging markets as well as a fuel efficient car in developed markets, the e-compact hopes to meet mobility and efficiency demands when it goes into production in early 2012.

Engineered to accommodate a further variant, fitted with a 100% electric power train, Motors’ e-compact combines the manoeuvrability of a small vehicle and excellent visibility with low running costs and spacious comfort.

Developed in under two years in Okazaki, Japan, the forthcoming Global Small project intends to merge all eco and compact requirements into one single package.

Sitting five adults nicely whilst offering sufficient luggage space within a retrained footprint (3,74 m length x 1,68 m width), the e-compact will be one of the most space efficient models in the B-Segment.

Mitsubishi’s e-compact also boasts sensible levels of fuel consumption and emissions well in line with market trends with all-new petrol 1.0 and 1.2 litre MIVEC power trains, the application of MMC’s green technology solutions (Auto Stop and Go, Brake energy regenerative system) and fine-tuned aerodynamics as exemplified in the sloping roof line.
