Haulier firm content with first Iveco
A specialist haulier firm has taken delivery of its first Iveco Stralis tractor unit.
The Stralis 4×2 artic has been added to PTM International’s 20-strong heavy truck fleet and will be used for temperature controlled distribution across the Continent and beyond.
PTM International decided to give Iveco a try after being impressed by positive reports from other drivers and fleet owners.
The Stralis features the flagship Active Space Super³ cab, coupled with a specification which includes long-range 700-litre and 400-litre diesel tanks, polished alloy wheels and an inline fuel filter heater to ensure the truck is well-equipped for winter trips to Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and Russia.
With one of the largest premium cabs on the market, the Stralis features a slide-out fridge and a swivelling passenger seat which guarantees maximum relaxation during rest breaks.
Both seats are finished in two-tone dark grey and black leather, with the driver’s air-suspended three-way adjustable seat offering up to 220 mm of longitudinal reach.
Peter Mansky, MD of PTM International, said: “When you compare the specification of our Stralis against any of the existing vehicles in our mixed fleet, we’re confident we’ve bought a very good truck.
“We’re always a little concerned with how our company livery will take to a new model, but the Stralis sets it off perfectly. It’s drawing a lot of attention on the road.”
The Stralis is powered by a 13 litre Cursor 13 engine, capable of producing up to 500 hp and 2,300 Nm of torque between 1,000 and 1,525 rev/min.
This proven engine is driven through a EuroTronic gearbox which offers the driver a choice between fully or semi-automated shifts – continuing a trend Iveco started with the launch of the original Stralis in 2002, when it became the first heavy truck to be fitted with an automated gearbox as standard.
