Battle of the sexes hits the road says Kwik-Fit
Men and women have long fought battles over the TV remote control, or who should put the bin out but new research from Kwik-Fit has revealed that being in a car together can be fraught with danger for relationships, with more than 80% of us get irritated by our partner’s behaviour when we’re out on the road.
The most common gripe seems to be driving style, something experienced by 6.9 million motorists (15% of all motorists).
However, female motorists’ are most irritated is their partners’ lack of patience with other road users, reported by three times as many women as men (21% vs 7%) and when men are behind the wheel, 15% of women say their partner drives too fast, and 14% say they get too close to the car in front. In contrast, the equivalent comment is made about women by 6% and 8% of men respectively.
Men’s biggest frustration lack of map reading skills, which annoys 14% of male motorists (compared to 6% of females) and their partner driving too slowly.

Ian Fraser, chief executive of Kwik Fit, said: “Although everyone has differences of opinion, it’s important to remember that we all drive a lot more safely when we’re relaxed than when we are annoyed or frustrated.
“And we suggest that men listen carefully – the large number of women saying their partner drives too fast, too close and is too impatient suggests that male drivers should be heeding the advice of their passenger to be safer on the roads.”
