Roadsafe campaign enters new phase
Roadsafe’s Driving for Better Business campaign is pushing forward in its bid to raise awareness of managing occupational road risk among fleets.
The campaign, now in its fourth year, aims to deliver a safe-driving message to business and is endorsed by more than 6,000 companies with almost 60 employers across a number of commercial sectors identified as ‘business champions’.
RoadSafe director Adrian Walsh says the campaign’s success has been helped by many businesses placing safety performance as a high priority.
“The campaign, particularly through the ‘business champions’ has promoted a very clear business case that the good management of people delivers improved efficiency, reduces cost and makes the organisation for which they work safer and more sustainable,” commented Mr Walsh.
“In simple terms, good management equals increased safety. The campaign is all about the positivity of managing people so that they perform well when behind the wheel. We want every employer to understand the benefits of practicing driving for better business.”
The next stage of the campaign will focus encouraging businesses to share their experiences of best practice of safe driving at work.
Adrian hopes to achieve this with increased promotion by ‘business champions’ to their industry sector peers, suppliers and customers of safe driving good practice as well as the development of benchmarking toolkits that will enable directors to discover how well they are doing in key management areas within the at-work driving arena.
‘Business champions’ meeting have also been doubled to four a year to encourage idea sharing.
Mr Walsh concluded: “We will continue to work with our ‘business champions’ and partners to design new business support services and campaign messages to promote the importance of good management at all levels of an organisation in achieving improved performance and the crucial outcome of improved road safety.”
