Jaama highlights benefits of fleet software in public sector
A surge of interest in public sector software has been attributed in part to Jaama.
Organised with the help of Luton Borough Council, the fleet management software provider held a workshop recently to highlight the cost and operational benefits of installing sophisticated online fleet management solutions.
Representatives from 15 different organisations heard from the council’s Transport Manager Don Allison and Rick Stillman, Head of Fleet at South Central Ambulance Service NHS Trust, both users of Jaama’s Key2 Vehicle Management system.
Attendees were given a first hand demonstration of the council’s software system in action.
Significant interest
Jaama MD Jason Francis reported that his company is currently working on systems to meet the needs of a number of public sector organisations as a result of the event.
“We have seen significant interest from public sector organisations in our fleet management software as they realised the many benefits that could accrue from implementation,” he said.
“However, it is clear that many public sector fleets continue to rely on spread sheets or other means of vehicle record keeping. They also have a history of spending money on attempting to modernise outdated systems when they would reap significantly enhanced benefits by installing a new solution fit for the 21st century.”
Mr Francis mentioned glowing testimonials from the likes of Luton Council stating how Jaama improved the operating efficiency of their fleet vehicles.
“Delegates attending the workshop were keen to learn bout how both the council and the NHS Trust were benefiting from introducing Key2, but also the problems that each other were encountering in terms of vehicle and plant management,” he added.
“Organisations have recognised that if they ‘spend to save’ they will reap significant cost savings and administration efficiencies. If investment is axed, local authorities will find they become less efficient and costs will actually escalate.”
Rick Stillman, who manages a fleet of almost 1,000 vehicles, commented: “We wanted a standard fleet management software system across the whole of the service so that we could accurately gauge fleet costs and manage workshop parts much more effectively to reduce vehicle downtime.
“We wanted complete visibility across all parts of the fleet for all vehicle and workshop administrators.”
