Volvo duo really grab the bull by the horns

A newcomer to Volvo Trucks believes he has made the right decision going with the Swedish manufacturer.

Martyn Horn, who operates a haulage company from Devon and has just taken delivery of the first of two new Volvo FH 6×2 rigid trucks, says he was attracted to the Volvo by its overall quality and the helpfulness of the sales team.

“These are the first we have ever operated,” said Martyn. “The choice of options was overwhelming, as was the number of safety features on the Volvo.

“The sales engineering team at Volvo Warwick spent hours with me in order to ensure that I got exactly the vehicle I needed. They even agreed to build my trucks with a non-standard wheelbase. That’s the sort of thing that convinces potential buyers they have made the right choice of business partner.”

The FH trucks have been designed to offer the maximum deck space for hay, straw and the transportation of farm machinery and are moved by a 13-litre 460hp engine.

With his drivers covering 2,500km on average every week, a decent kip is essential and Martyn complimented the comfy sleeping accommodation offered within the cab.

Mr Horn’s latest deliveries boast the two-pedal automated Volvo I-Shift, which are a real step up from past automatic boxes.

“The Volvo I-Shift is simply streets ahead of everything else. It is exceeding all our expectations”, he concluded.

“Even before the first vehicle went on the road I was impressed with the superiority of the Volvo. The build quality of the chassis engineering was evident from the outset.”
