M1 surfacing and maintenance works, West Yorkshire 05/05/2011

The Highways Agency will begin work on 9 May to carry out surfacing, maintenance and electrical works on the between Junction 45 (East Leeds Link) and 46 (Austhorpe) in .

During the work there will be lane closures on the M1 and drivers will use the hard shoulder. There will be a 50 mph speed restriction in place for safety reasons. The work will take place overnight between 8pm and 6am in order to minimise any disruption to drivers.

During the works it will be necessary to close the M1 southbound entry slip road at Junction 46 including the dedicated slip road from the A63 westbound, and the M1 northbound entry slip road at Junction 45 overnight between 9 May and 17 June. During the closures clearly signed diversion routes will be in place and the works will be removed over the bank holiday weekend.

Traffic wishing to travel south on the M1 from Junction 46 will navigate the roundabout and take the M1 northbound entry slip road. Traffic will continue northbound to Junction 47 (Parlington), exit the motorway and rejoin the motorway using the M1 southbound entry slip road.

These works were due to take place earlier in the year but were delayed due to poor weather.
