M62 closure for bridge pier removal
Road users are advised that there will be an overnight closure of the M62 in West Yorkshire this weekend, as part of the ongoing work to replace Whitechapel Bridge, which carries the B6120 Whitechapel Road between Scholes and Cleckheaton.
In order for the Highways Agency to safely remove the old central bridge pier the M62 will be closed in both directions between junctions 25 and 26, from 8pm on Saturday 7 until 6am on Sunday 8 May.
To minimise disruption the Agency is carrying out the work overnight when traffic flows are lower. During the closure drivers are advised to plan their journey and allow extra time when travelling on the diversion routes. When the westbound carriageway is closed, traffic will be diverted through Brighouse, the eastbound diversion will be through Cleckheaton and Liversedge. The diversion routes will be clearly signed and details can be found on the Highways Agency website www.highways.gov.uk/roads/projects/27497.aspx
