Tesco Dotcom awarded RoSPA MORR trophy once again

File:Rospa logo.pngTesco Dotcom was presented with ’s Managing Occupational Road Risk (MORR) Trophy, sponsored by Allianz Insurance, at a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel last night, for the third consecutive year.

As well as lifting the MORR Trophy each year from 2009-2011, they also won the prestigious award in 2007.

Colas Limited was highly commended in the MORR category and CEMEX UK Operations Ltd – Logistics was commended.  More than 30 other firms won non-competitive MORR achievement awards at bronze, silver or gold levels.

Tom Mullarkey, chief executive of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), a safety charity with a history stretching back 94 years, said: “Tesco Dotcom has proved once again that it has an exemplary system for managing occupational road risk and we offer our congratulations for its third consecutive MORR Trophy success.

“It has been estimated that up to a third of road crashes involve someone who is at work at the time.

“We hope the example set by Tesco Dotcom and our other MORR award winners will inspire even more firms to do their bit to prevent at-work road accidents, which not only cause immense pain and suffering for the family and friends of those involved but also represent a major burden on business.”

The MORR Trophy is presented annually as part of RoSPA’s Occupational Health and Safety Awards, which are sponsored by NEBOSH (the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health). Organisations entering the MORR category are also required to submit an entry into the general occupational health and safety awards scheme.
