PRAISE for fleet and road related safety seminars
The European Transport Safety Council’s Preventing Road Accidents and Injuries for the Safety of Employees Project or ETSC PRAISE project is recognising the growing importance of fleet or work-related road safety in the EU and as such there are two PRAISE Country Seminars planned for June 2011, one in Spain and the other in Germany.
June 9, 2011 in Oviedo, northern Spain ETSC, is hosting a Business to Business seminar to promote good practices by companies in specific work related areas.
June 14, 2011 in Sankt Augustin, Bonn ETSC, in co-operation with the German Road Safety Council will host its PRAISE International Seminar covering issues such as measures to improve work related road safety in Germany, including a session on good practices in German companies.
For further information and registration regarding either of these events can be found at http://www.etsc.eu/PRAISE-events.php
PRAISE aims
PRAISE is run by the ETSC secretariat in co-operation with the German Road Safety Council (DVR), the Swiss Council for Accident Prevention (bfu), and Fundación MAPFRE and is co-funded by the European Commission.
The aims of PRAISE are:
1). Advance the need for work-related Road Safety Management and provide the know-how to employers who must take on that challenge.
2). Raise the work-related road safety standards of EU Member States and carry out advocacy work at the EU level: work-related road safety is an area of road safety policy that needs renewed political commitment.
3). Communicate the message that work-related road safety should include road safety ‘at’ work (driving on duty) but also road safety ‘to’ work (commuting).
ETSC has launched PRAISE, a 3 year project addressing all safety aspects of driving ‘at’ work and driving ‘to’ work. Its aim is to “praise” best practices in order to help employers secure high road safety standards for their employees.
