Honda Insight makes in-roads with Green Motion
Eco-minded rental firm Green Motion has reaped the economical benefits of its latest fleet arrival – the Honda Insight Hybrid.
Added to its fleets at Birmingham, Bristol and East Midlands airports, Green Motion has rolled in the 1.3L models due to its sparse carbon emissions of 101g/km and thrifty fuel consumption of 64.2mpg.
Paloma Miller, Fleet Manager for Green Motion, revealed that the model could appear at other branches across the UK following a warm response from customers.
“We are delighted to include the Honda Insight into Green Motion’s fleet line up,” she commented.
“The demand for low emission vehicles is increasing day by day and while we’ve only had the Insights on fleet for a matter of days, customer feedback has been tremendous and we are now looking to add further Insight Hybrids to other key locations.”
Affordable
The Honda Insight Hybrid Coupe placed third in TheGreenCarWebsite’s most economical cars list [link here], returning 83.1mpg, and at little more than £16k on the road, Honda has prided the model as being the most affordable hybrid on the market, undercutting the Toyota Prius by at least £3,000.
The hatchback’s attraction to the fleet sector was given more backbone last year during Honda’s Mileage Marathon which saw six company car drivers drive an Insight for a month instead of their existing conventional models to compare how much they could save on fuel.
One driver saw an improvement of 10mpg and savings of £50 every month.
A Honda spokesperson added: “Fleets taking on the Honda Insight also stand to benefit from low whole life costs due to a combination of solid residual values, low SMR and low fuel costs. In addition, Insight has low Class 1A National Insurance contributions and is exempt from the London congestion charge.”
