Volvo renews fleet for London recycling firm
Volvo has begun shipping 52 new trucks to a leading recycling company in a landmark fleet refreshment deal for the manufacturer.
Before the end of summer, Bywaters, which operates in London and the South East, will have come close to renewing its entire fleet with a batch of brand new FL 18-tonne skip-loaders, FL, FE and FM hooklifts and FE compactor bodied Refuse Collection Vehicles.
The order is the result of a long term relationship between Volvo and Bywaters, which boasts a 98% recycling rate.
The deal is ground-breaking in that Volvo Truck and Bus Centre London supplied not just the truck chassis, but also the bodywork, telematics, PM weighing system, maintenance contracts for trucks and bodywork, driver development programme and driver CPC package.
Mike Pusey, Bywaters’ Deputy Managing Director, said the order reflects his company’s dedication to quality customer service and marks the forming of a partnership with Volvo.
He explained: “As our customers’ needs change and we respond with the development of ever more innovative services, we felt it was essential to have our vehicle supplier on board on a partnership basis.
“Ideally, a partnership where we adopt a transparent method of working together for our mutual and our customers’ benefit. This is particularly important in terms of Bywaters having access to and operating the latest, Euro 5 low emission technology and achieving best in class vehicle availability.”
With the target of becoming a zero carbon business, Mr Pusey added that the introduction of telematics will provide solid evidence of how the company is driving down CO2 emissions.
