New Transits help construction hire firm build fast and clean reputation

Red Ford Transit ECOnetic 2011Speedy Hire have ordered 19 new Ford Transit ECOnetic models to help their live up to their name.

The construction equipment provider, which operates a 2,000-strong fleet made up completely of models, settled on the model for its fuel economy (39.2mpg), tax benefits and its pack-leading CO2 emissions of 189g/km.

The greener-than-usual Transits have been brought in to deliver swift and efficient transport for maintenance calls across Britain as well as help the company meet carbon goals.

Ian Leonard, Speedy’s transport and logistics director, said: “We have set an ambitious target for the reduction of the company’s carbon footprint and we believe that the Ford Transit ECOnetic’s impressive environmental performance will help us achieve that.

“These first 19 vans will be closely monitored in service and if they live up to expectations then I am sure they will be the first of many to join the Speedy fleet.”

Nick Halliday, Ford’s regional fleet manager, expects other businesses to follow Speedy Hire’s example.

He said: “Speedy Hire is one of many companies looking to meet its environmental targets by the adoption of the latest technology from Ford. I am sure that Speedy will find the Ford Transit ECOnetic a major advantage in its quest.”
