Peugeot reopen book on quake-shaken fleet lines

White Peugeot 507 SaloonProduction will resume for a number of Peugeot models from next month.

The supply of parts to certain production lines was severely disrupted following Japan’s earthquake and tsunami disaster earlier this year, however has now reopened the book for the majority of models.

From September, the 508 2.0 HDi 140 Saloon (pictured) and SW will be available again, albeit £300 more expensive, while an OTR increase of £435 will enable Peugeot to keep the 2.0 HDi 163 on the table for the 508 Manual Saloon and SW Allure.

Peugeot stresses that these are the only models experiencing price hikes.

The 2.0 HDi 163 manual engine will be made available as stock only on the 508 SR and Active models.

Also making a return to the market will be the 2.0 HDi 163 Automatic 308CC, 3008, 5008 and 508 models.

Slovak production stopped

Meanwhile, production has been put hold from today at Peugeot’s Trnava plant in Slovakia until the end of August.

Peter Svec, spokesman for PSA Peugeot Citroen Slovakia said the closure was due to routine maintenance, preparation for a new model and fluctuations in demand.

The plant produces Peugeot 207s as well as the Citroen C3 Picasso and pumped out 186,150 cars during 2010; a decrease of 8.1% from 2009.

Production is set to resume at the Slovak plant from 30 August.
