This is expected to take place between midnight and 3am, when traffic flows are at their lowest. There will be further gantry installation work overnight on Friday 19 August and Saturday 20 August.

Work continues on Stowupland Road Bridge over the A14 at Stowmarket affecting the A14 and B1115. A contraflow will be in operation on the westbound carriageway when traffic flows are lighter, every night between 8pm and 6am and during two further weekends in August: from Friday 12 August at 8pm until Monday 15 August at 6am, and on the same days next weekend, between 8pm on Friday 19 August and 6am on Monday 22 August. There will be a 50mph speed restriction on the A14 in both directions between junction 50 Cedars Interchange and junction 49 Tothill Interchange, 24 hours a day for the duration of the work. There will be a full closure of the A14 eastbound on two weekday nights towards the end of the work in late August to remove the traffic management, dates to be advised. M1 J10 TO J13 BEDFORDSHIRE HARD SHOULDER RUNNING SCHEME
The following work is being carried out as part of the M1 J10 to J13 Managed Motorway scheme to provide additional capacity by opening up the hard shoulder as a running lane. There will be overnight sliproad closures at Junctions 10 and 11 as follows:
- Monday 15 August and Tuesday 16 August: junction 11, northbound entry and exit sliproads;
- Wednesday 17 August: junction 11, northbound entry slip road and junction 11, southbound exit slip road;
- Thursday 18 August: junction 11, northbound entry slip road;
- Friday 19 August: junctions 10 and 11, northbound entry slip roads;
- Saturday 20 August: junction 11, northbound entry slip road.
A contraflow is in operation on the M1 between junctions 12 and 13. During peak hours three lanes will remain open in both directions. A contraflow remains in operation from north of Junction 11 to Junction 10, diverting a lane of southbound traffic onto the northbound carriageway. Traffic on the northbound carriageway is using the hard shoulder as an additional lane. This allows for three lanes of traffic in each direction during the day whilst work takes place. This will continue until July 2011. There are currently hard shoulder closures between Junctions 11 and 12, with a speed restriction of 50 mph. In addition, the same speed restriction is in force to junctions 10 and 13. The enforced 50mph speed limit is there for the safety of the travelling public and the workforce on site. This traffic management is in place for the work on the Hard Shoulder Running scheme to reduce congestion and improve safety on the 15 mile stretch of the M1 in Bedfordshire. Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys whilst the road works are taking place.
SPEED LIMIT ON A1 SOUTHBOUND AND NORTHBOUND NEAR PETERBOROUGH
A 50mph speed restriction has been introduced on the southbound and northbound carriageway of the A1 at Water Newton while investigations are carried out on the central reservation.

Routine weed spraying continues next week from Monday 15 August on single carriageway sections of the A120 in Essex .The work is being carried out overnight between 8pm and 6am with lane closures in place past the works area as required. The work will be completed by 6am on Saturday 20 August.
A14 SUFFOLK – A14 CORRIDOR TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SCHEME
Work to install the final stage of the £70m jam-busting technology project for the A14 began in Needham Market in September 2010. The project will see an electronic messaging system operating from the M1 at Catthorpe in Leicestershire through to the Port of Felixstowe. The final stage covers from Needham Market to Felixstowe. Commissioning of the signs and traffic detectors has commenced. The public may notice some of the signs being switched on during this period, they may display ‘sign under test’ or a message stating ‘workforce in road’ with its associated pictogram while testing takes place. It is anticipated that system will be fully commissioned by the end of August.
The technology will benefit road users by providing them with advanced warnings of queuing or stationery traffic ahead. The signs will also provide information about expected journey times and information on diversions when they are necessary. The use of CCTV cameras will provide information to help improve traffic flow and monitor major incidents including improving response times to incidents by the emergency services.
A120 ESSEX, MARKS FARM ROUNDABOUT IMPROVEMENT WORK
Work started on Monday 1 August for 45 weekday nights (8pm to 6am only), weather permitting, to improve traffic flows around Marks Farm roundabout on the A120 near Braintree. The work is being carried out as a condition of planning permission for a supermarket expansion nearby. The dual section of the A120 eastbound approaching the roundabout will be reduced to one lane for the duration of the works and four way temporary traffic lights will be in place to control traffic around the roundabout as required during the overnight works. This work is expected to be complete by mid-October.
