RoSPA seminars lines up Scottish seminars
Upcoming seminars organised by Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) will aim to make Scotland’s roads safer for employees of small to medium firms who drive as part of their job.
The sessions are open to companies based in South Lanarkshire and Grampian and will look at a range of factors affecting road safety, including the condition of vehicles, driver impairment and accident reporting.
Scotland was praised recently after reducing the number of people killed or injured on its roads by half in the last decade, easily exceeding the target set by the Scottish Government [link].
Kathleen Braidwood, RoSPA Scotland’s road safety officer and speaker for both seminars, hopes these seminars will help quash those figures even further.
She said: “With ‘at-work drivers’ involved in around a third of crashes, it makes good business sense to manage employees’ road risk effectively.
“There are also clear ethical and legal imperatives to taking employees’ safety on the road seriously. We know small firms face challenges in terms of time and money when it comes to investing in safety, which is why these seminars and the resources they will promote are free of charge and easy to access.
“We hope to see many firms from across South Lanarkshire and Grampian at the events and believe they will learn a great deal from each other, as well as from the panel of speakers.”
The first session will take place at Aberdeen Douglas Hotel on Wednesday 14 September, with the second the following day at Hamilton’s Chatelherault Country Park. Both seminars will commence between 9.30am-4pm.
Attendees will have the chance to air any questions to speakers and share best practice with other firms.
