M62 Normanton slip road closure for resurfacing
Drivers are being advised that a slip road off the M62 in West Yorkshire will be closed overnight next month for resurfacing works.
The Highways Agency is resurfacing the eastbound exit slip road at Junction 31 of the motorway at Normanton between Monday, 5 September and Friday, 9 September).
The £50,000 scheme involves closing the slip road at 8pm each night and re-opening it to traffic on or before 6am each morning.
A fully-signed diversion will be in place and with anyone seeking to leave at Junction 31 directed onto Junction 30 instead where they can turn and travel back along the westbound M62 and take the westbound exit slip at Junction 31.
The closures will also be used as an opportunity to trim trees and shrubs along the slip road and the approach onto the Junction 31 roundabout, boosting safety by improving visibility of signs and traffic signals.
Highways Agency project sponsor Sujad Hussain said, “This is routine carriageway maintenance but it is essential to maintain smooth and reliable journeys around this busy junction. We have timed this work to avoid the busiest times and minimise inconvenience to commuters and other motorway users.”
