Lex Autolease’s new app encourages accident reports and repairs
Drivers and fleet managers risk forking out more for repairs by delaying the report of road accidents, according to Lex Autolease.
The average time for fleet bosses to report an incident involving their vehicle sits at around nine days, a delay that could potentially intensify repair costs.
Shaun Perks, Customer Proposition Manager at Lex Autolease, explained: “Drivers and fleets are quick to report vehicle fire and theft – usually in less than five days – but that almost doubles when it comes to standard road traffic accidents, which account for over 90% of all incidents.
“Part of the problem may be employees’ busy work schedules, but in the long run, it is counterproductive in terms of managing both time and cost.”
The fleet management and funding specialist has reacted with the release of ‘Mobile LAi’ – a new app that quashes down time by allowing company car drivers to report accidents and book repairs through their smartphone, anywhere in the world.
It is essentially a portable and arguably more convenient form of Lex Autolease’s LAi online fleet management platform.
“This literally empowers drivers to deal with emergencies on the spot, while also relieving some of the duty of care burden on the fleet manager,” added Shaun. “There really is no excuse for putting off what can be done in an instant.”
Lex Autolease view the app as as a natural progression of LAi and hope the app’s launch will provide peace of mind for fleet operators and company car drivers.
‘Mobile LAi’ is available as a mobile website for Blackberrys and a range of other smartphones.

Remarkable delivery
Lex Autolease has also just supplied 16 LCVs for Grimsby-based Shoreline Housing Partnership in just three weeks.
Mark Rosten, Project Manager at Shoreline Housing Partnership, praised the quick turnaround, saying: “Vehicle lead times seem to be at an all time record high, but Lex Autolease’s all round service and speed of delivery is truly remarkable.”
Gary Hamilton, Business Development Manager at Lex Autolease, says: “The client gave us one month to organise credit approval, have master agreements signed, promote the account, order the vehicles and then deliver them.
“Bearing in mind, the average lead time for commercial vehicle factory order is around ten weeks, we had to pull out all the stops.”
