Portuguese coastguards wave hello to the new Amarok
Life’s a beach for the Volkswagen Amarok after Portugal’s coastguards took delivery of the popular pick-up.
The Portuguese National Institute for Search and Rescue has brought in 14 new Amaroks, fitted with emergency lighting bars and racking for surf boards, for quick response calls.
Al Hemmings, National Sales Manager for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said their use as emergency vehicles demonstrated the Amarok’s versatility it can offer to fleet customers and the emergency services sector.
He commented: “We are delighted to add the new Amarok off-roader to our range of commercial vehicles this year which, with the Volkswagen 4MOTION system also available on our Caddy Maxi, Transporter and Caravelle ranges, means we now offer an extensive and versatile choice of all-wheel drive vehicles from vans and people carriers to a robust pick-up.”
