Hyundai’s next gen i30 to further fleet fave status
Hyundai have revealed the latest incarnation of their fleet-friendly i30 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Designed less than 30km away from Frankfurt in Rüsselsheim, Hyundai reckons the five door hatchback will be as big a hit amongst fleet bosses as the previous generation with half of the 120,000 sales anticipated coming from the fleet sector.
Coming in three petrol and three 1.6L diesel engines, fuel economy is said to be improved with tighter insurance classification and sub-100g/km CO2 emissions.
Exact figures will be published closer to its European launch early next year. However, performance figures revealed that the i30 can reach 62mph in just short of 11 seconds with a 122mph top speed.
Thomas Bürkle, Chief Designer at Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Centre, said the i30’s style was instantly recognisable as Hyundai.
“When designing the new-generation i30, we used strong, fluid lines to sculpt a car which looks athletic and exudes a sense of constant motion, even when stationary,” he explained.
“We gave the car a bold stance, transmitting a confident attitude through sporty characteristics and dynamic proportions. In this way, the car is very close to the all-new i40.”
Also contributing to its identity is the hexagonal-shaped grille, which defines the i30 as typically Hyundai, added Thomas: “The hexagonal appearance is unique to Hyundai, and defines the i30 as a family member.
“The jewel-like front headlamps which flank the grille add a strong personality to the vehicle, as well as a sense of refinement and luxury.”
