A31 Canford Bottom Junction Improvements
Advance work continues this week on a road upgrade at the Canford Bottom Junction on the A31. The scheme will reduce congestion, both on the A31 and the local roads on approach to the roundabout. The improvements will involve upgrade the existing roundabout into a fully signalised junction, with the A31 extending through the centre of the roundabout.

The first phase of work involves surveys and other enabling activities. Main construction is scheduled to begin in October, and is expected to take around 34 weeks to complete. To ensure any disruption is kept to an absolute minimum, most work will be carried out overnight when traffic flows are lowest, although some work will be carried out during the day as well.

A404 Road Marking Renewal
A scheme to renew the white lane markings and road studs across all lanes of main A404 carriageway in both directions will start on Monday 3 October for two weeks. Work will be carried out overnight between 9pm and 6am, using mobile lane closures, with a 40mph speed restriction on approach to the work site, and a 10mph speed restriction past it.

The work started on 28 September and are expected to take approximately eight weeks to complete, carried out at night between 10pm and 6am using narrow lane running on both sides of the road and a temporary restricted speed limit of 50mph.

These joints allow for the movement of the bridge deck in response to changes in traffic flows and temperature.

Work will be carried at night between 8pm and 5.30am when traffic flows are lowest, and is being coordinated with resurfacing work being carried out on the A329(M) by Wokingham Borough Council, using temporary lane restrictions on either carriageway, with a reduced speed limit of 50mph. Occasional overnight carriageway closures will also be required, with a clearly signed diversion route in place via junction 11 of the M4 at Reading.

Safety barrier maintenance – various routes Work to inspect and re-tension safety barriers across motorways and major roads in central southern England continues this week. Depending on the location, work will be carried out during off-peak daytime hours or overnight using temporary lane closures, with occasional overnight slip road closures, which will be confirmed in this bulletin. The improvements will include the introduction of traffic signal controls at the end of the A3(M) and A27 exit slip roads at their junction with the roundabout. New lanes will also be added to the roundabout itself, on the A3(M) southbound exit slip road and eastbound on the link road to the A27 junction.
