REMINDERS

M1 J10-13 HARD SHOULDER RUNNING SCHEME - GANTRY INSTALLATION
Work will be carried out overnight on Saturday 8 October to install one further gantry over the M1 between junctions 10 and 12. In order to carry out the work the traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction after 10pm. Once this has taken place Bedfordshire Police will start a rolling road block which will slow traffic down and bring it to a stop for approximately 20 minutes while the gantry is lifted and bolted into place. This is expected to take place between midnight and 3am, when traffic flows are at their lowest. There will be a further gantry installation taking place over the weekend of 14/15 October, to be continued.

The closures will be in place between 8pm and 6am, Mondays to Thursdays, and between 8pm and 10am on Friday nights. Through traffic using the A14 will be diverted off the A14 at junction 51 (Beacon Hill Interchange) via the A140 to Diss and then the A143 westbound where it will rejoin the A14 at junction 43 near Bury St Edmunds. While the work is carried out there will be overnight closures of the A428 between 9pm and 5.30am Mondays to Fridays, with no work taking place on Saturday and Sunday nights. Local traffic travelling westbound will be diverted onto the A1198 northbound at Caxton Gibbet to join the A14 westbound at Godmanchester and southbound on the A1 to Wyboston to re-join the A428. Local eastbound traffic will be diverted north on the A1 to join the A14 eastbound at Brampton Hut and will then be separated from through traffic at Godmanchester (junction 24) onto the A1198 southbound to Caxton Gibbet. ONGOING WORK

M1 J10 TO J13 BEDFORDSHIRE HARD SHOULDER RUNNING SCHEME
The following work is being carried out as part of the M1 J10 to J13 Managed Motorway scheme to provide additional capacity by opening up the hard shoulder as a running lane. There will be overnight sliproad closures at Junctions 11 and 13 as follows:

Junction 11, Southbound exit sliproad: Monday 10 – Friday 14 October; Junction 10, Northbound, entry sliproad, Saturday, 15 October.

A contraflow is in operation on the M1 between junctions 12 and 13. During peak hours three lanes will remain open in both directions. A contraflow remains in operation from north of Junction 11 to Junction 12, diverting a lane of southbound traffic onto the northbound carriageway. Traffic on the northbound carriageway is using the hard shoulder as an additional lane. This allows for three lanes of traffic in each direction during the day whilst work takes place. This will continue until November 2011. Between Junction 10 and 11 there are currently three lanes of traffic in each direction during the day utilising the hard shoulder, lane 1 and lane 2 to allow access to the works in the central reserve. There is a 50mph speed restriction in force between junctions 10 and 13. The enforced 50mph speed limit is there for the safety of the travelling public and the workforce on site. This traffic management is in place for the work on the Hard Shoulder Running scheme to reduce congestion and improve safety on the 15 mile stretch of the M1 in Bedfordshire. Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys whilst the road works are taking place.

A1(M) NEAR PETERBOROUGH - PHASE TWO OF RESURFACING WORK
Work to improve the surface of the A1(M) southbound between junctions 16 and 15 near Peterborough started on Friday 29 July. Phase two of the work is now underway on a 1.5mile section south of junction 16. A 50mph speed restriction will be in place and the entry sliproad closed at junction 16 with a clearly marked diversion in place via the B1043. While the work is taking place three narrow lanes will be open on weekdays and two lanes at weekends.

SPEED LIMIT ON A1 SOUTHBOUND AND NORTHBOUND NEAR PETERBOROUGH
A 50mph speed restriction has been introduced on the southbound and northbound carriageway of the A1 at Water Newton while investigations are carried out on the central reservation.

A11 OVERNIGHT CLOSURES AT WYMONDHAM
Work to surface treat sections of the A11 near Wymondham started on Saturday 1 October until Thursday 13 October for ten nights (Saturday 1 – Friday 7 October and Sunday 9 - Thursday 13 October). Work will take place between 8pm and 6am.

The A11 southbound will be closed overnight from Thursday 6 October until 6am on Thursday 13 October between the Tuttles Lane Interchange and Spooner Row Interchange. Southbound traffic will leave the A11 at Tuttles Lane Interchange exit slip road and follow the reverse of the diversion detailed above.

As the northbound entry slip road to the A11 at Tuttles Lane interchange and the southbound entry slip road to the A11 at Spooner Row form part of the general diversion route, these will only be closed when the A11 is open. These slip roads will be closed only on Wednesday 12 October, weather permitting. with local signing.

A14 SUFFOLK SPEED RESTRICTION AT TRIMLEY INTERCHANGE
A 50mph speed restriction has been introduced on the eastbound and westbound carriageways of the A14 at Trimley Interchange (junction 59) while investigations are carried out on both nearside verges and central reservation.

A14/A12 COPDOCK INTERCHANGE & A14/A154 DOCK SPUR ROUNDABOUT IMPROVEMENTS
A scheme to improve the A14/A12 Copdock Interchange near Ipswich and the A14/A154 Dock Spur Roundabout at Felixstowe started on Monday 23 May. The work will be carried out 24 hours a day and will continue for seven months. During the work a temporary 40mph speed limit will be in force at both junctions, with a 50mph speed limit on the junction approaches. At the southern exit from the Dock Spur roundabout the offside lane of the A14 will be closed. There will be lane closures in place most nights and on a limited number of nights there will be carriageway closures or convoy working, with dates to be published once confirmed. The scheme has been designed to accommodate additional traffic generated by the Port of Felixstowe expansion and is being funded by the Felixstowe Dock and Railway Company.

A120 ESSEX, MARKS FARM ROUNDABOUT IMPROVEMENT WORK
Work started on Monday 1 August for 45 weekday nights (8pm to 6am only), weather permitting, to improve traffic flows around Marks Farm roundabout on the A120 near Braintree. The work is being carried out as a condition of planning permission for a supermarket expansion nearby. The dual section of the A120 eastbound approaching the roundabout will be reduced to one lane for the duration of the works and four way temporary traffic lights will be in place to control traffic around the roundabout as required during the overnight works. The work is expected to be complete by mid-October.
