LeasePlan seals Ampera agreement
LeasePlan has struck a deal with Opel (or Vauxhall to you and I) that will enable to them offer the new Ampera before the end of next year.
It is expected that up to 650 of the range extended electric vehicles will be rolled out to corporate fleet clients across 12 European countries from November 2012.
“We are pleased to develop this international co-operation with Opel for the introduction of the new Opel Ampera,” said Vahid Daemi, Chairman of the Managing Board and CEO of LeasePlan Corporation N.V. “The Ampera is an extremely attractive product for the fleet sector.
“By including the Ampera as part of our product portfolio, we can now offer an innovative vehicle which takes account of environmental considerations while providing a driving range that fulfills all the requirements of our customers.
“It is co-operation agreements such as this that further supports our global GreenPlan service in helping our clients to reduce both cost and emissions associated with running their fleets.”

LeasePlan will work closely with its customers to position the Ampera in company car policies and so offer drivers a no-compromise electric car alternative to their other car options.
Alain Visser, Opel’s Director of Sales, Marketing and Aftersales, said: “In contrast to other electric vehicles, the Ampera has a range of more than 500 kilometers and combines all of the capabilities our customers expect from a car for everyday, all-round use.
“The inclusion of the LeasePlan program is further proof of the fleet capability of our electric car.”
This agreement follows a deal between Opel and Europcar that will enable the rental company to offer the model in the UK, France, Italy, Portugal, and Spain from the beginning of 2012.
The Ampera’s wheels are constantly driven electrically by a unique 16 kWh lithium-ion battery pack which feeds an advanced, 111 kW/150 hp electric drive unit capable of delivering between 40 and 80 km of electric operation with zero emissions. A gasoline engine kicks in after that and the Ampera is in line to achieve 175mpg.
