Winners unveiled at 2011 GreenFleet Awards

The great and good of the fleet and leasing world were named last night during a glittering ceremony in London.

Organised by Magazine, the annual event was referred to as ‘the Oscars of the fleet industry’ by impressionist comedian Alistair McGowen who compered the night at Twickenham Stadium.

The awards gave a big pat on the back for car manufacturers and fleet managers who have actively combatted climate change by adapting pioneering methods to reduce the carbon output of their fleet.

On top of the 17 category winners, Dr Colin Herron was presented with the Award for Outstanding Achievement in recognition of his tireless work to make the North East of England an internationally recognised centre for low carbon vehicle innovation and education.

Consecutive

BMW was named Fleet Car Manufacturer of the Year for four years running while Commercial Group’s Robert Paddock walked away with the prize for Private Sector Fleet Manager of the Year for the second time in three years.

The Institute of Advanced Motorists’ Drive & Survive also repeated last year’s success in the Driver Training Company of the Year category.

“We are really excited to have received this award for a second time,” said the IAM’s Simon Best. “It’s a real sign of our ongoing dedication to road safety, and our eco-friendly credentials.

“As well as our Ecolution product, which has been proven to improve fuel consumption by a minimum of 15%, we now offer cycle training commercially – by far the greenest way to get around.

“Driving with our easy methods in mind can help reduce driver stress levels, improve driver attitude, increase the safety of both drivers and passengers, and ultimately increase fleet operational efficiency.”
