Lane closures for M180 cable renewal at Scunthorpe
A £912,000 Highways Agency project to update electrical cabling along the M180 near Scunthorpe will get underway next week.
The seven week scheme starts on Monday, 31 October, and should be completed by Sunday, 18 December.
The work will be taking place in the central reservation of the motorway for about a mile around the interchange at Junction 5 of the motorway at Wrawby Moors and will require the around-the-clock closure of the outside lane in each direction.
Traffic management along the eastbound carriageway where the motorway joins the A180 will be removed at peak hours to minimise inconvenience to motorway users leaving the motorway.
A 50mph speed limit will be in place through the roadworks for the safety of motorway users and roadworkers.
Lighting along this section of the motorway will also be switched off during the work although the interchange roundabout itself and motorway entry and exit slips will remain lit.
Highways Agency project sponsor Steve Wright, said, “This is a routine renewal of cabling which provides the electricity to motorway lighting in the central reservation.
“Replacing the old cable will help improve the reliability of the lighting and reduce the frequency of maintenance and repairs- providing more reliable journeys for motorway users.”
