Hitachi Capital win Asda home delivery contract

Hitachi Capital was picked due to its dedicated commercial vehicle team and sector expertise of home delivery fleets will shake-up its home delivery fleet operations with the help of Hitachi Capital Commercial Vehicle Services.

The supermarket giant hopes to sharpen up the efficiency of its home delivery service, making notable savings in the process after Hitachi Capital won the Asda contract.

Hitachi Capital will also advise on Asda’s existing fleet reviewing the design and build of their vans. Around 260 vehicles have already gone live with a total of 900 expected by end of next year.

Gary Banister, Asda’s National Transport Manager, said Hitachi Capital was picked due to its dedicated commercial vehicle team and sector expertise of home delivery fleets.

He explained: “The project is a result of a best practice review with key objectives to renovate and revolutionise the home delivery fleet in order to improve compliance, reduce costs, enhance driver behaviour and also to create a step change in the industry.

“Asda reinvests operational savings in pricing for customers in store, and we have set a target for the project of saving at least £1.2m in operational expenditure, which will be reflected in store for our customers.”

Thrilled

Jon Lawes, Divisional MD of Hitachi Capital, said the contract would assist Asda in leading the way for home delivery.
