Closing date approaches for RoSPA’s MORR Awards
There is less than a week for fleets to put themselves forward for the RoSPA’s Management of Occupational Road Risk Awards.
The awards’ initial entry stage will close next Thursday [1 December]. From then, companies have until 1 February 2012 to submit their full entries.
Issues considered by the scheme include:
- the leadership of Management of Occupational Road Risk (MORR) from senior decision-makers to line managers at all levels;
- the communication of occupational road safety information inside and outside organisations and the involvement of the workforce;
- planning for MORR based on risk assessments that identify control measures and set priorities, standards and targets; arrangements for active monitoring;
- and the investigation of accidents and problems and the implementation of the lessons learned
David Rawlins, awards manager at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), said: “For fifteen years, RoSPA has led the campaign for occupational road risk to be managed in the same way as other work-related risks.
“As well as campaigning for MORR to be taken seriously by employers and regulators, and providing practical help for employers, we are delighted to run the RoSPA MORR Awards to reward good practice and encourage improvement in this area.”
This year’s awards sees a continuation of RoSPA’s partnership with Allianz.
Roger Ball, Allianz’s Head of Commercial Motor, said the two share a dedication to promoting effective risk management and to raising awareness of occupational road risk with their clients.
“By helping clients understand risk and reduce their exposure, we can not only contribute to the overall security and stability of their business but also help more people drive safely,” he commented.
