Skoda Octavia II racks up 1.5m units
One of Skoda’s most successful models has hit another huge milestone.
Production of the 1,500,000th second generation Octavia has just been completed at Skoda’s Mladá Boleslav plant in the Czech Republic; a figure which would be much higher if it included the identical MingRui available in China.
Michael Oeljeklaus, Skoda’s board member for Production and Logistics, said that the Octavia was important in revitalising the Skoda name and has been “the heart of the Škoda brand” for the last 15 years.
He added: “It is a true ‘Simply Clever’ vehicle: Spacious, practical, family-friendly, and affordable.
“In particular, the second generation built since 2004 has meant another leap forward for us. The figure of 1.5 million manufactured Octavia II expresses this success in a special way.”
Oeljeklaus added that the fleet favourite will continue to play an important role in Skoda’s model range and make a central contribution to the brand’s growth strategy.
The Octavia’s latest achievement comes just as Skoda starts testing 11 electric Green E-Line variants of the Octavia.
