Twice the prestige as RHA appears twice in New Year Honours

The start of 2012 has delivered a pleasant surprise for Andy Boyle, former Chairman for the Road Haulage Association, after being included in the Queen’s New Year Honours list.

Andrew Patrick Keith Boyle, MD and owner of Herefordshire-based hauliers A B E, was understandably shocked at his OBE but considered it a recognition of the work carried out across the entire haulage industry.

“I was greatly surprised and honoured to be given this award,” commented Andy who held the position of RHA Chairman until last May.

“I see it as an acknowledgement of the efforts of the on behalf of the industry as a whole. Indeed it was the and FTA, in collaboration with FairFuelUK, that saw the fuel duty increase planned for 1 January abandoned.

“Although the award has been given in my name, I in turn would like to acknowledge the tremendous number of unsung heroes both within the RHA, the industry.”

Mr Boyle also thanked his staff at A B E: “It was only through their help and support keeping the business running that made my time as RHA Chairman possible.”

Geoff Dunning, RHA Chief Executive, strongly approved of Boyle’s achievement, commenting: “His integrity, judgement and overall professionalism are exemplary; he has, and continues to be a pleasure to work with.”

Double honour

There was also a nod for another RHA supporter – Clive Warcup of East Yorkshire-based Clive Warcup Transport – who received an MBE in this year’s list, in recognition of over 40 years in the haulage industry and his charity work.

He commented: “My time spent working on behalf of the RHA, Tipcon, the Agricultural and Foods Group, Board of Directors and the Northern Regional Council has enabled me to make many friends and valuable contacts.

“I am also delighted that the charity work in which I have been involved, mainly as a Rotarian has enabled me to make a difference to those less fortunate.”
