Vauxhall is 2011’s best seller for CVs

Vauxhall Vivaro was the best selling medium van in retail Commercial Vehicles has topped the end of year retail chart for sales for the first time in its colourful history.

Small businesses bought their vans from the Luton-based manufacturer over any other van maker last year shifting 11,436 vans during 2011, an increase of 28% on 2010’s performance.

It should have been no surprise as Vauxhall topped the SMMT’s monthly sales charts five times through the year.

Vauxhall’s Vivaro turned out to be the most popular model in the retail medium van segment, with a 58% year-on-year increase.

Excellent year

Richard Collier, Vauxhall’s National Commercial Vehicles Sales Manager, believes buyers were attracted by their offer of 0% APR finance, free servicing, warranty and AA cover for the vehicle’s first four years.

“Last year proved to be an excellent year for Vauxhall van sales,” said Mr Collier.

“It’s fantastic news for Vauxhall that despite the uncertain economic outlook there’s still strong demand for fuel efficient, high quality vans with low running costs and excellent manufacturer support.”

Vauxhall can expect fruitful van sales for the early part of 2012 with the imminent launch of the new Combo along with an extension to its van swappage scheme until the end of March.

Vans which don’t comply with London’s new LEZ rules can be used to unlock discounts for a new Corsavan (£3,000), Astravan (£4,000), Combo (£4,000), Vivaro (£5,500), and Movano (£7,500).
