Kia’s 57mpg Optima coming next month

Blue Kia Optima 1.7 CRDi 2 Luxe 2012The launch of Kia’s new Optima will see the brand offer a competitive car in all key sectors for the UK’s fleet and leasing industry.

Released on 1 February, the diesel-only saloon has been tailored for the business market and all manual Optimas will come with ’s EcoDynamics as standard. That means a tempting 57.6 mpg fuel economy, CO2 emissions of 128g/km, and four trim levels with spec considered essential for the business user.

The new 134bhp 1.7-litre six-speed Optima enters the UK market with an impressive history; Korea’s best selling car within a month of its release, the Optima has shifted almost 300,000 units worldwide with a raft of design awards to boot.

Longer, lower and wider than Kia’s previous D-segment car, specification includes a 550W sound system with 12 speakers throughout, heated and cool-ventilated seats, cornering lights, panoramic sunroof, reverse parking camera, cooled glovebox, and an automatic cabin defogging system.

As expected, safety is high on the list, with all Optimas fitted with Electronic Stability Control, Vehicle Stability Management, and an Emergency Stop Signalling system which flashes the brake lights rapidly to warn following drivers in the event of an emergency stop.

Automatic versions compromise the Optima’s fuel efficiency and emissions, returning 47.1mpg and 158g/km, equating to a higher VED band (G instead of D).

Prices start at £19,595 before topping out at £24,495 for the manual option, or £25,995 for the automatic.
