Hyundai looks to increase fleet sales with new i30
Hyundai is gearing up for its first, and arguably biggest, new car release of 2012 with the imminent arrival of the new i30.
The new generation five-door hatchback promises to deliver improved fuel economy, bags of fleet-friendly features, and competitive pricing when it launches in the UK on 12 March.
The original i30 was launched back in 2007 and was the first in a new wave of ‘i’ models from Hyundai, setting new standards for quality, European design, and driveability for the Korean carmaker. Fast forward five years and the latest Hyundai i30 will be available in four trim levels including Classic, Active, Style and Style Nav, with a choice of both petrol or diesel engines. The sole petrol choice is 1.4-litre 100PS powerplant which isn’t expected to be the main seller in the fleet market, instead, Hyundai will offer their latest 1.6-litre CRDi engine in a variety of different power outputs.
Two models come in below the 100g/km of CO2 threshold. The Classic 1.6 CRDi 110PS Blue Drive and similarly powered Active trim emit just 97g/km of CO2 (76.3mpg on the combined cycle) making them the stand out choice for company car drivers to minimise their fuel bills. While the higher specification Style and Style Nav trims have official CO2 emissions of 100g/km for both the 110PS and 128PS Blue Drive engines.
Tony Whitehorn, President and CEO Hyundai Motor UK, says: “The new generation i30 represents another leap forward in terms of Hyundai’s design, refinement and build quality. Coupled with Hyundai’s generous standard specification along and industry leading back-up service and support in the form of the Five Year Triple Care assurance, the new generation i30 truly represents the complete package for customers looking for a high-quality vehicle at an affordable price.”
To further increase consumer and fleet appeal the model features a comprehensive standard features list, including voice-activated Bluetooth, LED daytime running lights, multi-function steering wheel, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors and one-touch indicators. Safety systems added as standard across the range include Vehicle Stability Management, Emergency Stop Signal and Hill-start Assist Control.
Moving up the range, Active trim drivers get 15-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, rear parking sensors and new Flex Steer from Hyundai which gives the driver three drive modes – Comfort, Normal or Sport.
Topping the range is Style, which adds 16-inch alloys, dual zone climate control, front parking sensors, rain sensing wipers, cornering lights, automatic headlights, automatic de-fog system for front windscreen and electrically folding door mirrors with LED indicators. Style Nav, as the name suggests, adds a fully integrated sat nav system.
