Skoda sells 14 millionth car
Skoda has announced the completion of its 14-millionth vehicle since 1905.
The Superb which rolled off the production line at the Czech plant at Kvasiny this week was a ‘Laurin & Klement’ special edition, named in honour of the Skoda co-founders.
It has taken Skoda 33 months to sell two million cars since its last publicised sales landmark in April 2009, so if Skoda maintained that momentum, the brand should hit the 15 million mark by May 2013. That’s our rough maths anyway.
Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland, Skoda’s Chairman of the Board, said that the brand is expanding at a high speed: “This celebratory car is an impressive expression of our growth strategy.
“Almost two thirds of the 14 million cars built by the company were produced and sold in the past 20 years, four million of which were produced in the past five years alone.”

Fresh from besting its annual UK sales record, Skoda expects to shifting more than 1.5 million cars a year worldwide by 2018.
“We thank the entire Skoda team, which has made this development possible and which can rightly be proud of its achievement,” added Vahland.
The path through 2012 looks set for further standout moments for the brand set to launch its Citigo city car – Skoda rebadged VW up! and Seat Mii.
Skoda has also expressed the desire to introduce one new model to the market every six months over the coming years.
