Roadworks information for Highways Agency roads in the North West – seven days beginning Monday 18 June 2012

NEW SCHEMES

M56 Junctions 15 - 16
Maintenance work will take place on the westbound carriageway of the M56 between junctions 15 and 16 from Monday 18th June. The carriageway will be closed overnight between 10.00pm and 5.00am each night until Sunday 24 June. During the closures a fully signed diversion route will be in place.

M56 Cheshire
Work will take place overnight on Wednesday 20 June between 10.00pm and 5.00am, to enable electrical loop replacement works to be carried out safely. During this time traffic will be banned from the eastbound entry slip road at junction 16 and a fully signed diversion will be in place via the M53.

A55 and M53 Cheshire
Drainage work on the A55 and M53 in Cheshire will be carried out for two weeks beginning on Monday 18 June. During this time there will be carriageway and slip road closures on both roads around Boughton Heath and Vicars Cross junctions between 10.00pm and 5.00am on weekdays and 10.00pm and 7.00am at weekends. Clearly signed diversions will be in place at all times. Work is expected to be completed by Friday 20 July.

A56 Appleby by-pass
There will be temporary day time traffic signals in place at the East end of the Appleby Bypass between 9.30am and 3.30pm from Sunday 17 June until Sunday 1 July while embankment works are carried out.

ONGOING SCHEMES

A590, Kendal
There will be closures on the A590 between junction 36 of the M6 and the junction with the A591 at Brettagh Holt for carriageway resurfacing until Thursday 28 June. The westbound carriageway of the A590 will be closed from the M6 between 4.30am and 9.30pm on Monday 11 June and Tuesday 12 June with two subsequent overnight closures - between 8pm and 6am each night - on Monday 25 June and Tuesday 26 June. Fully signed diversions will be in place during these times.

M62, St Helens
Weekend restrictions will be in place from Fridays to Mondays between 9pm and 6am while pavement resurfacing work is carried out. During this time, there will be a 50mph speed limit and carriageway closures with hard shoulder running from Jubits Lane to Bold Hall Lane, and from Burtonwood Road to Clock Face Road. Closures will also be in place at times from Ladies Walk footbridge to Bold Hall Lane footbridge. Work is scheduled to end on Monday 2 July.

M6 Junction 27, Standish
Work is taking place between Friday 15 June and Thursday 23 August when lane three in each direction will be closed around the clock. During this phase there will be narrowed lanes and a 50mph speed limit. The hard shoulder will be used as an additional running lane to ensure three lanes of carriageway are maintained in each direction. Installation and removal of traffic management at the beginning and end of the second phase of the work will require the northbound exit and southbound access slip roads to be closed overnight. Clearly-signed diversions will be in place during these times.

A66, Keswick
There are 24 hour traffic signals in place for patching works on the A66 at the junction with the A591 near Keswick until Saturday 23 June. The roadworks will be removed when the Olympic Torch arrives on Wednesday 20 June.

WORK BEING CARRIED OUT BY OTHER AGENCIES ON THE HIGHWAYS AGENCY NETWORK

A663 Chadderton
There is a 30mph speed limit for all traffic on the A663 between Whitegate
Lane and Milton Drive until the end of August, while junction construction and improvement work is carried out.

M6, Junction 31
Drivers are warned of possible delays in the Fulwood area of Preston around the M6 Junction 31a as two extra lanes are added to the motorway slip road, which takes traffic from the motorway onto Bluebell Way. Traffic signals will also be added to the roundabout. The work is being carried out by the council on behalf of the Homes and Communities Agency.
