Overnight work to improve journeys on A5 near Tamworth

Road users and pedestrians will benefit from overnight work starting next week to resurface the A5 between the Dordon and Grendon roundabouts.

The work will also include improvements to traffic signs and tactile paving at some crossing points.

The work is due to start on Monday 25 June and will be completed in July. All activity will take place between 9.30pm and 6am to minimise disruption for road users.

During the work, there will be lane restrictions and temporary traffic signals in operation. There will also be some overnight closures of the A5 between Dordon and Grendon roundabouts. Clearly signed diversions will be in place during the closures.
Laura Mobley, Highways Agency project manager, said: "Once complete, the work will prolong the life of the road and improve driving conditions. The work has been carefully planned to keep disruption to a minimum and that is why it is being carried out overnight when traffic flows are lowest, but I would advise drivers to check conditions and leave extra time for their journeys if necessary. We will endeavour to complete the work as quickly as possible."

During the closures the following diversion routes will be in place:

A5 westbound traffic should leave the A5 at the junction with the A444 and follow the A444 northbound towards M42 Junction 11. Traffic should then leave the M42 at Junction 10 to rejoin the A5. A5 Eastbound traffic should leave the A5 at M42 Junction 10. Traffic should then leave the M42 at Junction 11 and take the A444 south until it rejoins the A5.
