The Highways Agency will be undertaking works to resurface a half a mile stretch of the southbound A43 between Silverstone and Syresham, south of Towcester, in July. The works will also include repainting road markings, installing new road studs and renewing traffic counting loops under the road surface.
The overnight works are expected to start on Tuesday 10 July for five nights between the hours of 8pm to 6am, when traffic flows are at their lowest.
Traffic management will start approximately 1 mile in advance of the carriageway closure at Abthorpe roundabout. Diverted traffic during the overnight closures will join the A5 at Towcester and should follow the clearly signed diversion route via the A5 southbound to the Old Stratford roundabout, on to the A422 in the direction of Buckingham, on to the A413 and A421 to bypass Buckingham town before re-joining the A43 southbound at Barley Mow roundabout.
Paul Siddall, Highways Agency project manager, said: "This is routine maintenance work to ensure users of the A43 in this part of Northamptonshire can continue to enjoy safe, smooth and reliable journeys. Doing this work now will reduce incidents of unplanned repairs which can inconvenience road users. Outside of the five overnight closures this work should not cause any inconvenience to drivers, however, I would advise drivers to check conditions before they travel and leave extra time for their journeys if necessary."
