The Highways Agency will be carrying out resurfacing and lining works on the hard shoulder of the northbound A1(M) between Junction 59 (Coatham Mundeville Interchange) and Junction 60 (Bradbury) next week.
Work will take place from Monday 9 to Saturday 21 July between 8pm to 6am and will also include renewing the filter drain at Bradbury. The northbound A1(M) will be closed between Junction 59 to 60 for one week followed by lane closures and a 50mph speed restrictions in place between Junction 59 and 60 the second week.
During the carriageway closures clearly signed diversion routes will be in place. Traffic travelling north on the A1(M) will be directed to exit the A1(M) at Junction 59 and follow the A167 Westbound until it meets the A167/B444 roundabout. Traffic will then be directed to continue on the A167 towards the A167/A689 Roundabout. Traffic will then be directed to turn right (East), and continue on the A689 until it reaches the A1(M) Junction 60 where it will re-join the A1(M) northbound.
Highways Agency project manager, Steve Bishop, said: "This work will prolong the life of carriageway and provide an improved surface for drivers. During the works we advise road users to plan their journeys to avoid delays. Safety is our top priority and for the safety of road users and road workers we encourage all drivers to drive carefully past the works and along the diversion routes, keeping within the speed limit, and concentrating on the road ahead."
