The Highways Agency will be starting work to resurface the A446 at Stonebridge between M6 Junction 4 and the A452 in July. The work will include replacing traffic signs and renewing the road markings to improve safety for road users.
The works are due to start on Monday 23 July 2012 and we have scheduled them to finish around 21 August 2012. During the works the A446 at Stonebridge will be closed between 8pm and 6am. Diversion routes will be clearly signposted.
The northbound diversion route will be from the point where the A452 splits into the A446 and A452. Motorists should take the A452, cross the island and carry on along the A452. At the next roundabout take the third exit onto Coleshill Heath Road to the next roundabout. At the roundabout northbound traffic should take first exit on to the A446. Other traffic wishing to join the M6 at J4 northbound should take the second exit at the roundabout and follow the A446 to M6 J4. Southbound traffic should follow this route in reverse.
There may also be lane restrictions in operation during the day, all of which will be clearly signposted in advance.
Laura Mobley, Highways Agency project manager, said: "Once complete, this work will result in a quieter road surface and improved safety for road users. The work has been carefully planned to keep disruption to a minimum but I would advise drivers to check conditions and leave extra time for their journeys if necessary.
