TomTom wires home electrical company with telematics tech

By John Simpson 19 July 2012

Electrical contractor Clarkson Evans hopes the introduction of TomTom fleet management will increase productivity and improve the management of its mobile workforce.

All 160 of the company’s vans have been fitted with TomTom’s telematics systems after an underwhelming first experience of the tech.

Catherine Mason, Clarkson Evans’ Operations Manager, explained: “Having previously employed a telematics system that failed to meet our expectations, we turned to TomTom to help us to more efficiently allocate appropriate contractors to jobs and monitor their time on site.

“TomTom’s WEBFLEET fleet management software is extremely user-friendly, and the brand’s strong reputation for reliability precedes it. We are already realising considerable efficiency gains from being better placed to optimize our business operations.”

Clarkson Evans, which wires new homes across southern England, the Midlands and south Wales, has also installed TomTom’s ecoPLUS fuel monitoring and diagnostics device to give managers better insight into fuel usage and to help lower fuel costs.

Giles Margerison, TomTom Business Solutions’ Director, added: “We look forward to a long and successful partnership with Clarkson Evans, helping them cut cost, increase productivity and ensure the safety of their driver.”
