Roadworks information for Highways Agency roads in the North West – seven days beginning Monday 23 July 2012

Olympics Football at Old Trafford:
Starting times for overnight roadworks along routes around Manchester will be delayed to help smooth drivers' journeys to and from Olympics Football events at Old Trafford, including and park and ride sites.

NEW SCHEMES

A66 Keswick
From Monday 23 July until Saturday 29 July there will be 24 hour traffic signals in place between Bassenthwaite Lake and Keswick while the kerb drainage system is replaced.

A66 Brough By-pass
There will be daytime lane closures and two layby closures from 6.00am until 8.00pm and night time lane closures with convoy working westbound from 8.00pm until 6.00am for surface repairs from Sunday 29 July until Monday 13 August.

ONGOING SCHEMES

M602, M62 and M60 Eccles Interchange
Maintenance and repair work is being carried out at Eccles Interchange, which connects the M62 to the M60 and M602 in Salford. Carriageway and slip road closures will be in place overnight until Saturday 28 July between 10.00pm and 5.00am during the week and 10.00pm and 7.00am at weekends. During this time clearly signed diversions will be in place via junctions 11 or 13 of the M60.

M58 Lancashire Junction 5
From Monday 16 July until Monday 13 August there will be overnight slip road closures on the M58 between 10.00pm and 5.00am while survey work is carried out.
. The westbound exit slip road at junction 5 will be closed from Monday 16 July until Friday 22 July
. The eastbound entry slip roads from the A577 northbound and southbound will be closed from Friday 20 July until Monday 13 August.
Clearly signed diversions will be in place at all times.

M56 and M60 South Manchester, Junctions 2 and 3
There will be carriageway and slip road closures on the M56 and M60 around Sharston Link and junctions 2 and 3 where the motorways meet while concrete repairs, bridge joint replacement and maintenance works are underway. Work will take place overnight from 10.00pm until 5.00am from Monday 2 July until Saturday 4 August. There will be fully signed diversions in place during these times via the M56, M60, A34 and Princess Parkway.

M6 Junction 27, Standish
Work is taking place between Friday 15 June and Thursday 23 August when lane three in each direction will be closed around the clock. During this phase there will be narrowed lanes and a 50mph speed limit. The hard shoulder will be used as an additional running lane to ensure three lanes of carriageway are maintained in each direction. Installation and removal of traffic management at the beginning and end of the second phase of the work will require the northbound exit and southbound access slip roads to be closed overnight. Clearly-signed diversions will be in place during these times.

WORK BEING CARRIED OUT BY OTHER AGENCIES ON THE HIGHWAYS AGENCY NETWORK

A663 Chadderton
There is a 30mph speed limit for all traffic on the A663 between Whitegate
Lane and Milton Drive until the end of August, while junction construction and improvement work is carried out.

WORK OFF THE HIGHWAYS AGENCY NETWORK WHICH MAY AFFECT HIGHWAYS AGENCY CUSTOMERS

M6, Junction 31
Drivers are warned of possible delays in the Fulwood area of Preston around the M6 Junction 31a as two extra lanes are added to the motorway slip road, which takes traffic from the motorway onto Bluebell Way. Traffic signals will also be added to the roundabout. The work is being carried out by the council on behalf of the Homes and Communities Agency.
