Traffic bulletin: M4 between junctions 1 and 3 – overnight restrictions for signal and CCTV repair

26 July 2012

Please be aware of the following traffic bulletin from the Highways Agency:

Road users are advised that the M4 westbound between junctions 1 and 3 will be closed overnight tonight (Tuesday) for technical repairs to ensure that the Highways Agency can monitor traffic flows, respond to incidents and continue to provide up to date information to road users.

The carriageway will be closed between midnight and 5am while repairs are carried out to a CCTV camera and three signals on gantries.

In addition, two lanes of the eastbound carriageway will be closed between junctions 3 and 2 between midnight and 5am for an electronic message sign to be replaced. Traffic will still be able to use lane 3. As the sign is near junction 3, the entry slip road at junction 3 will also be closed overnight.

Tomorrow night (Wednesday), the eastbound carriageway will be closed between junctions 3 and 1 between midnight and 5am while the Agency completes work on the electronic message sign and carries out repairs to a camera near junction 2. Due to its location, nearly five miles away, this work cannot be completed during the lane closures tonight, Tuesday night.

The work is being carried out overnight, when traffic levels are lowest, to minimise disruption to road users.

Clearly signed diversions via the A4 and A312 will be in place during the closures.

This is not connected to the recent repair work on the Boston Manor Viaduct which is near junction 2 and is not connected with the M4 Games Lane which operates for 3.5miles eastbound between junctions 3 and 2.
