As a result of exceptionally heavy traffic this afternoon at the Dartford-Thurrock River Crossing, the Highways Agency has temporarily suspended charges on the Crossing in both directions until further notice. The decision was made at 4pm today to help ease the particularly severe congestion which has built up and also to reduce the risk of minor collisions in queuing traffic. Everything possible is being done to help keep traffic moving.
