Roadworks information for Highways Agency roads in the North West – seven days beginning Monday 6th August 2012.

Olympic Football at Old Trafford
Starting times for overnight roadworks along routes around Manchester will be delayed to help smooth drivers' journeys to and from Olympics Football events at Old Trafford, including park and ride sites.

NEW SCHEMES

M60/A34 South Manchester / Cheadle
There will be four months of closures between junctions 2 and 4 of the M60 and along the A34 whilst a major programme is underway to reduce congestion and improve safety.

From Wednesday 8 August various traffic restrictions will be in place including daytime hard shoulder closures along the M60 anti-clockwise for 2 miles, and a 50mph speed limit through narrowed lanes, and overnight closures of slip roads, Sharston link road and M60 anti-clockwise carriageway from 10.00pm to 5.00am weekdays and 10.00am to 7.00am at weekends.
Overnight closures will affect:
. M56 eastbound Sharston Link between Junctions 3 and 1
. M60 anticlockwise between Junctions 5 and 3
. The entry slip road from the northbound A34 onto the anti-clockwise M60 at Junction 3
. M60 Junction Junction 3 anti-clockwise exit slip road onto the southbound A34
. M60 Junction 3 clockwise exit slip which merges with the anti-clockwise exit slip before meeting the southbound A34.

Work is expected to be completed by Friday 5 October.

A66, Cumbria
There will be a 10mph speed limit through roadworks along the A66 around Palliard junction from Monday 6 August until Monday 20 August while resurfacing takes place. Work will take place overnight between 8.00pm and 6.00am and convoy vehicles will escort motorists through the roadworks. Traffic will also be banned from an adjacent layby. Overtaking and U turn bans will also be in place

M6 Between Jct 41 - 43
There will be night time closures of two lanes on the M6 northbound while reconstruction of the carriageway takes place. The closures will be in place from 8.00pm to 6.00am from Monday 6 August until Saturday 11 August. There will also be a 24 hour closure of lane one on the main carriageway on these dates.
From Monday 13 to Saturday 18 August two lanes will be closed on the southbound side. A 50 mile per hour speed limit will be in place when the work is carried out. The slip roads at Junctions 42 and 43 will also need to be closed during some nights, when motorists will be diverted to the next junction on the motorway.

ONGOING SCHEMES

M60 Junction 23, Dukinfield
The exit slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5m until Saturday 18 August for resurfacing work. Diversions will be in place.

M65 Junctions 1a to 2, Bamber Bridge
The westbound side of the motorway will be closed overnight between Junctions 1a and 2 until Friday 31 August while resurfacing work and bridge upgrades are carried out. The work will take place betwene 10pm and 5am, and a diversion will be in place.

M65 Junctions 3 to 4, Blackburn
The westbound side of the motorway will be closed overnight between Junctions 3 and 4 until Friday 31 August while resurfacing work and bridge upgrades are carried out. The work will take place betwene 10pm and 5am, and a diversion will be in place.

A5036, Bootle
The A5036 Church Road will be closed overnight between Netherton Way and the roundabout leading onto Bridge Road until Saturday 25 August for resurfacing work. The work will be carried out between 10pm and 5am and a diversion will be in place.

A66 Dubwath to Thornthwaite
There will be lane closures and temporary traffic lights for drainage work until Sunday 23rd September.

M58 Junction 5, Lancashire
From Monday 16 July until Monday 13 August there will be overnight slip road closures on the M58 between 10.00pm and 5.00am while survey work is carried out.
. The eastbound entry slip roads from the A577 northbound and southbound will be closed from Friday 20 July until Monday 13 August.
Clearly signed diversions will be in place at all times.

M6 Junction 27, Standish
Work is taking place between Friday 15 June and Thursday 23 August when lane three in each direction will be closed around the clock. During this phase there will be narrowed lanes and a 50mph speed limit. The hard shoulder will be used as an additional running lane to ensure three lanes of carriageway are maintained in each direction. Installation and removal of traffic management at the beginning and end of the second phase of the work will require the northbound exit and southbound access slip roads to be closed overnight. Clearly-signed diversions will be in place during these times.

A66 Brough By-pass
There will be daytime lane closures and two layby closures from 6.00am until 8.00pm, and night time lane closures westbound from 8.00pm until 6.00am for surface repairs from Sunday 29 July until Monday 13 August.

A663 Chadderton
There is a 30mph speed limit for all traffic on the A663 between Whitegate
Lane and Milton Drive until the end of August, while junction construction and improvement work is carried out.

M6 Junction 31
Drivers are warned of possible delays in the Fulwood area of Preston around the M6 Junction 31a as two extra lanes are added to the motorway slip road, which takes traffic from the motorway onto Bluebell Way. Traffic signals will also be added to the roundabout. The work is being carried out by the council on behalf of the Homes and Communities Agency.
