M1 / M62 Lofthouse Interchange improvements Leeds, West Yorkshire

09 August 2012

The Highways Agency is carrying out improvement work on the M1 Junction 42 / M62 Junction 29 Lofthouse Interchange this week. Work includes resurfacing sections of Lofthouse Interchange and slip roads, and replacing bridge joints. The work will provide an improved road surface for drivers at this important interchange. During all of the work clearly signed diversion routes will be in place. Resurfacing work is taking place overnight between 8pm and 6am on sections of the M62 Junction 29 eastbound entry slip road and M1 Junction 42 northbound exit slip road. During the eastbound entry slip road work the freeflow slip road from the M1 onto the M62 will be closed between 8 and 10 August. During the northbound exit slip road work, lanes 2, 3, and 4 of the northbound exit slip road will be closed to traffic from 13 to 18 August with the lane 1 freeflow link to the M62 westbound remaining open. Bridge joint replacement work will also take place at the M62 Junction 29 Lofthouse Interchange from 9 to 21 August. During the work there will be closures on the roundabout and M62 eastbound exit slip road between 8pm and 6am. In addition from 18 to 19 August lane one and the hard shoulder of the western section of the roundabout will be closed between 6am and 8pm. Highways Agency project manager, Alan Apps, said: “This work will improve this important interchange and reduce the need for further roadworks in the area. We have planned these works carefully to minimise the disruption to drivers.” “During the works we advise road users to plan their journeys to avoid delays. Safety is our top priority and for the safety of road users and roadworkers we encourage all drivers to drive carefully along the diversion routes, keeping within the speed limit, and concentrating on the road ahead.”
