Drivers using the A66 in east Cumbria are being advised of drainage works which will be taking place around Stainmore for most of September.
Just over a mile of the dual carriageway of this section of the A66 between Augill junction and Borrowdale Beck junction about a mile from Brough, will be affected by the work which will be taking place between Monday 3 and Sunday 30 September.
The work includes carrying out a survey of drainage along the road as well as carrying out spot repairs where problems are identified.
The A66 will remain open at all times but lane closures on both the eastbound and westbound carriageways will be required to allow the work to be carried out safely. The speed limit will be reduced to 50mph past the inspection areas.
Highways Agency project sponsor Peter Gee said, "This is part of a routine inspection and repairs regime to ensure that users of the A66 in this part of Cumbria can continue to enjoy safe, smooth and reliable journeys without being delayed by flooding. We are not anticipating any delays for road users but drivers should heed the reduced speed limit past any lane closures for their own safety and for the safety of our roadworkers."
